It's about a group of scientists using new technology to explore Antarctica, and they discover deep underground the remains of an ancient advanced civilization and people in stasis. Barjavel wrote the book wrote it in 1968 and the plot of the book has always stayed with me, as if he was simply writing down our forgotten history.
