The world has changed so much in the last 81 years of my life I find myself laughing a lot at the absurdity of where we are headed, following the prophecies I have been learning since I stepped onto the Red road. I'm only a young feller, 68. Sleeping in a trailer in the woods tonight, supposed to go to -7C. I'll sleep like a baby. I'm a tough old bastard. Looking forward to completing my cabin with a wood stove but I'm not anxious about it. Maybe T-waves don't penetrate my forest.
I have it the opposite. I took the whole blazing summer off and didn't get jack shit accomplished except battling heart failure meds. The last week or so I spent digging post holes to move my side fence forward about 30 feet and going to build two new swinging gates for a 12 foot wide entry and a 4.5 foot wide walk through gate. The project was a slow start even though it was cooler and rained a few days and cloudy a few more. But the last few days have been hotter than I'd enjoy, sweat my ass off out there. I keep saying "Winter Is Coming", but only because the weather will be friggin' awesome for working outside all winter long.
Right on, on all points. You have me by 8 years, but we lived in the best possible times. I have had some great experiences, and a lot of fun. I have had life kick my ass and done a bunch of ass kicking myself. We live in the best possible country in the world, and I choose to be happy. Attitude is an attitude, and I choose to be positive. What a relief, Clif! That describes my recent experiences to a "T", so to speak. The kind of anxiousness that makes you say "Just fucking bring it, already", not "OMG, what now?!"
I know I’m feeling the anxiety, despite being female. I’ve had many people tell me how intense their anxiety levels are lately, and they don’t know why. Most are female though (who openly share this, anyway).
My wife says I am a man in training, but heck, it has been over 45 years now. When does it end? Hell, life goes on until it doesn't, and then, it doesn't make any difference.
I talked to a guy years back that had 4 daughters. He was frazzled, but he said not to worry, he had figured out what the problem was. He said it was "internal 'plumbing"
Seasons changing. I always told my kids to: 1) check the air pressure in their car tires every time the season changes, and 2) check those wiper blades in the spring and fall.
Worked for a fellow once who was pretty funny. He once asked us what we would do if we got word that the general was on his way to our office in three minutes? Not really enough time to tidy up, right? Folks gave a bunch of lame answers. Our boss finally said: "shine your boots. It's all you've got time for, and you'll look more professional and feel more confident. The big boss who shows up unexpectedly, EXPECTS your office to be messy, if you've actually been working..."
Lot of wisdom there. Worried about what's coming, whatever it is? Check the air in the tires (remember the spare(s), too) and wiper blades on the cars. How's the tread on those tires? Do the "is the top of Lincoln's head visible?" thing with a penny in your tire treads. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, might be time to think about a new set of tires. Around the house, clean the windows of your home - inside and out. You'll soon be mostly inside, and might want to look out a clean window. Clean the leaves out of the gutters, if you've got gutters. Water the plants which will be over wintering outside really well. (They do much better when deeply watered even if they are dormant in the cold.) If you do a hot frame or cold frame, clean that glass. If you are doing a hot frame, load it with fresh manure and prepare the bed. Do that BEFORE you take the hoses off and drain them, and put them into storage. If you live where it gets cold, put the insulated caps on your outside water spigots. Trim the roses back hard, if you have roses. Go find the snow shovel and ice scrapers. Put an ice scraper back into the trunk of the car, or a door pocket. Put one inside by the door, too. Get your winter firewood under cover, if you did not have it tarped during the summer. In your free time, split and stack some more firewood (if you have a stove or fireplace). In short, guys, if you live in the northern hemisphere, winter is coming, and it's time to prepare. Get busy and stay busy. You'll feel a lot better, and what ever happens, the car will be safer and the house ready. At this point, it's all you've got time for, and you'll look more professional and feel more confident. Which counts for a lot in life. Plus, if married, the wife will appreciate it greatly.

At nearly 62 I find life's road has been rough for the entire trek. For me, scars are equally outside as inside. THe only upside is when I am telling a horrible story about scars, I use cynicism, irony, sarcasm and humor, and inevitably people bust out laughing at my horrible story. Then they apologize for laughing, ... then continue laughing. I tell them it's okay to laugh and laugh with them. That's the whole idea.
It has been such a shitty haul but for the last few decades I've been saying "No matter what happens, you have to be able to laugh, ... because the moment you can't laugh, .... yer fucked.
Things have definitely been in a holding pattern over the last 2.5 to 3 weeks. I'm guessing on some critical information dropping that will disrupt some planned event, expose some perps and force them to scramble for plausible deniability. I too could be near homelessness and am trying to make a bit of a comeback, so many worn out body parts pressure in my head not used to having headaches like this but I can't imagine myself with my gun safe in a shopping cart although financial monopolies have created a high intensity of aggression towards people that have a mortgage, with a couple of rental properties it's been very difficult since covid just about rip them from under my feet where people got to live rent free and I still had to pay the mortgage it just about wiped out my wife and all. I have a lot of vacancies and too many mortgages and there should be a couple of dead judges but universe will take care of that or their own karma. I have a friend that became homeless and let him stay in one of my buildings because it needs renovating and I can't do it he can't do it cuz he's off the wagon. He's like a functional drunk but he's not old enough for social security so he finds ways to make money and works hard when he does.
I hope things get better for you and the rest of us, only wish I could move away from all these 5G antennas I've got some material used to shield rooms thinking of shielding one of my room so I can put my bed in there and sleep for 8 hours without any electro magnetic frequencies affecting me.

I have news for you! They already stole most of it. What we call a dollar from 1970 is now worth about 3/4 of a cent. What the hell happened to the other 99.25 cents?

There is not a lot more to take! Even on the basis of "junk" silver, that is "selling" for 34 times face value right now. That means a silver dime costs you $3.40 in FRN's. At that, the paper is worth 3 cents. If you add the huge increase in efficiency since that time (1970) we are producing more with less, prices should have went down. I think that $.0075 is about right for the value right now.
The funny thing is that since almost everyone is now a millionaire, a cup of coffee is now $5.00 and a hamburger is 6 or 7 dollars. A house is 3/4 of a million and the interest is compounding just as if the value was as of old. It is time for a bunch of short rope parties.
There is still more to take then you think. I remember when The Great Taking had just come out. What it describes it pretty sinister and they've been working on it for a few decades with rules, regulations and laws. It'll be hard to be homeless, living in our cars, ..... when they take the cars too.
In days of old, they used to hang horse thieves. That was because a man's horse was essential to being able to survive. I never said they weren't stealing, I just said they plan on stealing every last bit imaginable. And yes, the rope will surely come out before it's all done and over with. I always figured the end game would be messy, real messy, whether we win or lose.

I'm old and disabled and I get SNAP and have a 12 year old kid. But, when I get no SNAP in November, .... I won't notice until May, ... at least. The children of ghetto Mom's who got triple SNAP during covid, and bought lobster, may go a bit hungry during the next couple months, ..... and I will try to feel sorry for them, while I'm cooking food for MY kid. Yeah, covid is when I started stocking up, no lobster for ME. lol Foolish mortals !!!

Loved that film, saw it when I was really young, scared the life out of me but I loved the robot. When I was a bit older I watched it again and by then Leslie Nielsen was rather nice! Not scared at all. A modern uptake on a Shakespeare play - The Tempest I think
Yes, it scared me too when I was young and first saw it, because of its message and warning, which was very serious.
Its message is still relevant today, but after seeing the comical side of Leslie later, watching it now is not scary. Although I do prefer Leslie's comical 'Airport' movies!
His comical one liners in 'Airport' are unforgettable.

Oh yes, Forbidden Planet was one of the best sci-fi movies IMHO. Especially since it was made in 1956 with Leslie Nielsen. It was so far ahead of its time, and had an important message too. It was probably one of Leslie's only serious acting roles?
He was in Tammy with Debbie Reynolds.
