Don Tolman is only one expert who states that the ancients believed sleep was a gift from the Gods. It's when you can't get it that you fully understand the meaning of this.
A deep, unbroken 8 hrs is rocket fuel - nothing replaces it. Life is good, no challenge too big, etc. We who are slogging it out with the cabal need it like never before. Ha! imagine that. We won because we slept well. Sleep was the secret weapon!
All my life I have felt like a Rip Van Winkle, late for school, asleep at my desk, or trying to keep up with late night people. Still, at 58, I need about 9.5 hours sleep to feel best. The difference now is that I actually get it for the first time in my life, and without a care as to what I am missing by going to bed at 7:30. I wake around 5 and feel just great. I am lucky to have this sleepiness, I guess, when so many have trouble sleeping. I truly know how important it is. Fresh air also seems key; anytime I go to the beach, I get even sleepier for a few days, then it balances out. Something about that beach energy is so big! when you aren't used to it! Best Clif
Thanks Clif. I’m gonna try it. I’m a veteran insomniac and I’m 75 and nothing has worked. Thank you for all that you do. You are one of the good guys. Much appreciation.
My husband suffered from insomnia for years, his job caused lots of nights of interrupted sleep. He loves Pure Sleep, he’s having his best sleep in 30 years.
Have you tried a few tabs of magnesium before bed? I take two tabs of about 100mg each. I also use those LED candles at night and within an hour, I am out. Magnesium is also nature's cure for anxiety and depression.
I have greatly benefited from, PURE SLEEP. I wake up, literally jump out of bed, in which I haven't done this in many years. My overall pain level has decreased considerably, my brain fog has cleared up upon awakening. My over all stamina during the day is consistent. Thank You Clif !
A few grams of sugar isn't going to harm you. You do realize your body, especially the brain, needs glucose, right? It will literally break down your muscle (gluconeogenesis) to get it. Sugar isn't some devil - it's a combination of everything.
A healthy body makes it's own glucose. Sugar feeds cancer. The most successful anti cancer therapies are sugar blocker. A few grains of sugar is harmful.
It's the processing in all our foods that creates problems along with humans' tendencies to do things to excess. Too much of anything can cause problems for some people. Sugar cane has been around for centuries and is healthy when consumed fresh and raw.
You just agreed that your body needs glucose. And what do you think it makes it from? It either uses the food you've eaten, or it uses your own muscle tissue... hence the muscle wasting of cancer patients. You should educate yourself instead of just regurgitating talking points you've heard. "MmmEmH SuGar BaD"
Anna is absolutely correct. Clif should know this. He is a really smart guy. Why use poison? Clif you want everyone to have what happened to you; what you did to yourself? Sugar is the enemy. The only time humans needed sugar was to get them through harsh winters. We no longer need it. it just tastes good. The people who package your food know this and they sneak it in wherever they can. Hence fat, sick humans, with barely functioning livers and other organs reacting to the constant insults to the liver including the brain. Clif puts sugar in his product. What more do you need to know?
You are correct, but the body breaks down protein to do that. If you cut out sugars, you need to supplement with more protein to avoid losing muscle mass.
The sugar in whole milk or fruit will swamp anything in the Pure Sleep mixture, although it would be useful to have the amount of sugar stated on the bottle. More importantly, it would be useful to have the amount of GABA (the first ingredient) stated on the bottle.
I have been calling him a snake oil salesman. This is his snake oil.
Magnesium is the active ingredient, which is relatively cheap and comes in a variety of types.
I like magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, L-Tyrosine, 5-HTP and melatonin all taken at sunset. I also drink 2 cups of lemon balm tea (am & pm) which helps reduce stress and thusly, reduces cortisol.
Often people wake in the middle of the night and can't immediately get back to sleep. This is often caused by the release of a steroid hormone produced in the adrenal glands, cortisol. A bad dream will lead to cortisol production and sleeplessness. My hunch is, if you do the above things it will be cheaper and work better than Clif's snake oil. This should not be taken as medical advice. I am not a physician.
I don't see what's gained by name-calling. Clif developed this product to correct a physical problem he had. Assuming he is telling the truth, it worked for him. Now he has commercialized the product. From the comments, it seems to work for some of the responders, but not for all. That's typical for most sleep products, especially those that are not habit-forming high-tech drugs. I know a couple of people who are taking it. They appear to be getting some benefit. I'm not concerned about the sugar content. It's probably less than a gram, and it would be swamped by the sugar in whole milk, fruit, etc. I am concerned about the amount of GABA, since it could be high relative to what is ordinarily prescribed. I asked Pure Bulk for the amounts of sugar and GABA, and they replied that is proprietary. That's unacceptable for what is supposed to be a health product. In summary, I don't think he is a snake-oil salesman, but he/Pure Bulk, need to be more open about the amount of each ingredient.
This post was not based only on this product. Clif has a history of misleading others. This is NOT his first rodeo. I am familiar with this history and feel inclined to warn others due to this. Feel free to ignore me. Clif has an army of followers who usually jump to his defense no matter the charge or claim.
The subject at hand is this particular sleep product, not Clif's thoughts/statements on other issues (some of which I find bizarre). Parallel to the COVID-19 vaccine, we want to know whether this product is safe and effective. As far as I know, no clinical studies have been conducted, so we can't answer that question with any certainty. We can get some estimate of effectiveness through comments of viewers who have tried the product. Safety is harder to assess, especially long term safety. That's why we need to know the specific amounts of each ingredient. We can check the safety records of each ingredient at the doses given, although we will not be able to gauge any synergies. That's why I'm concerned about GABA, and the fact that they won't provide the amount contained in each serving. Finally, your statement about Clif having a history of misleading others does not contain any specifics. How specifically has he mislead others, especially related to health products?
Yeah the sugar has kept me away from Gen2 as well - sugar is the second ingredient! I'm not a big fan of strawberry flavor either. Gen1 was great. Hoping for a Gen3! The Gen1 monk fruit worked great as a sweetener although I would be down for less sweetness overall.
The sugar-free Gen-2 is tasty. I think it's sweetened with Xylitol, which isn't super-super-super-ideal, but it does the job of increasing the sweetness (which Clif claims has subtle nervous / physiological effects that assist with the absorption of the mixture) without adding extra sugar.
I'm not even sure why they put "strawberry" flavor in there; not that it's bad or anything, but to me, the nutmeg flavor is predominant.
Complex carbohydrates break down to simple carbohydrates via the digestive process....a simple carbohydrate, as the name implies, consists of three elements....carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. CHO...simple carbs are sugars. It has been said by many a nutritionist that the refined sugars are not preferable to the simple sugars found in fruits. If you eat a piece of bread, the digestive process turns the complex carbs ingested to the simple carbs ones body uses for cellular functions. Simple biochemistry, taught to me in 5th grade science.
Clif is a great guy, generous with his time... but after years of intense supplementation... I have leaned a few things... and wonder of the main ingredients of magnesium and GABA are really the primary, if the only, active ingredients... and can be purchased in bulk, inexpensively... the others, to me, are possibly unnecessary and possibly "iffy"... nutmeg and its extracts (Myristicin) can be problematic... Ellagic acid is fine, but necessary for sleep? Hmmmmm... even GABA is doubtful... from PsychCentral: "...there’s no evidence that taking a GABA supplement will make GABA reach your brain or those cells that need it." Can it cause relaxation in some? Likely.
Agree. Nutmeg is just crazy. I think the only effective ingredient in Clif's potion is magnesium. The rest are either poison (sugar and Myristicin [insecticide]), unnecessary or just undesirable ingredients.
Are you referring to CBD oil, or something stronger? Why couldn't that be used in addition to Pure Sleep, or in addition to just a magnesium supplement?
I am referring to marijuana... smoked or edibles, full THC style. I don't care for CBD oil, though it helps many.
But we all are different. Pure Sleep is not for me, way too expensive and I get side effects from some of the components. But if you like it... head on!
I never found magnesium to be much of a sleep aid. MJ, smoked or edibles, works great for me, though I am taking a long break from it right now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM3stM3uI00). However, the fundamental cause of poor sleep has to be addressed and reduced; there is only so much food can do. If e.g. stress or anxiety is dominant, and cannot be controlled, then serious and habit-forming medication may be required. If poor diet is the main driver of poor sleep, then the above suggestions may be adequate.
If you believe that, why not just have a bowl of buckwheat with dinner? It contains 230mg Magnesium (about half the RDA) per 100g. Usually, lower amounts of physiological doses (i.e., in foods) will have the same effects as much higher amounts taken supra-physiologically (i.e., in supplements). Plus, you get the synergies from all the other components of the food.
Because 1) that's a boatload of carbohydrates, and a variety of other anti-nutritional components in the buckwheat, and 2) that magnesium is probably bound up with phytic acid, making a majority of it biologically-unavailable.
Not a bad idea... but I have borderline low BP, I hope due to me working out often and keeping my weight low. magnesium is great... but not recommended for those with semi-low BP.
Actually, I'm going to try it tonight. I have sprouted organic buckwheat, and forty minutes of steaming gives it perfect texture. Additionally, whole milk kefir (a couple hours later) should help with GABA production as follows: "both kefirs increased the capacity of the gut microbiota to produce GABA, which was linked to an increased prevalence in Lactobacillus reuteri." (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7236220/). So, if one eats high GABA foods (cruciferous vegetables, beans, peas, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, sprouted grains, rice (particularly brown rice), and chestnuts), then drinks kefir in the evening, that should produce a hefty increase in GABA. It will be at physiological levels, and may very well have the effect of supra-physiological levels taken in isolation without potential side-effects.
I don't. I eat some vegetables, but not with fructose. I even eat a little fruit like lemon or lime juice, but never enough to spike my blood sugar or my insulin. Some people, Anna may be one of them, do not do well with plant products and have found a meat only diet the only thing that keeps certain maladies at bay.
With the ketogenic diet and one meal per day, I initially lost a bunch of weight which was good, but how I feel now is incredible and combined with some other science I am watching, my age is reverting.
But the best thing I can suggest to anyone is never, ever put sugar in your mouth again.
Clif, thanks for writing that. The first gen pure sleep worked well for me and then I tried the second gen and had difficulty. As an asshole that runs my body hard in a stressful job, I failed to give it enough time. I will certainly try it for two weeks. Thanks again.
See if he offers a refund and do some research. You can find magnesium anywhere and it is relatively cheap. None of the other ingredients will help with sleep and some are not healthy in Clif's brew.
Thanks Clif. I've consumed 2 bags so far, but haven't been taking on a regular basis. You're latest article made me decide to order 4 more and get on the bandwagon. Thanks for ALL that you do! Namaste
I just used up 2 big size bags of OG Pure Sleep formula. Love it. I'm certain the new formula is good too but, sadly, the sugar in the new formula is a show-stopper for me. Onward!
Pure Sleep is a miracle! I have been using it for about six months, I finally have great sleep, I wake up refreshed- no grogginess like I would get from big pharma products. I have energy and even getting back muscle tone! Not too shabby
I'm an old guy who sleeps well. No electronics in the bedroom. In bed by 10, asleep by 11, up by 6-7. Rare to have a lingering worry or pressure dream.
But if I get off my schedule I pay a big price, its why I'm no longer a performing musician or club goer. Entertainment is not worth a bad nights sleep.
I've been taking this product and it is amazing to say the least. I'm glad to know that results will be building. The planetary vibration is so intense in a precariously dark way it wakes me up. Good to know that my outer muscular body is rebuilding to conform with my inner strength. Thanks Clif!

As you poison your liver.
Sugar feeds cancer Cliff and you put it in your sleep product. I avoid it vigorously in any form and you might consider doing the same.

Have you heard of gluconeogenesis? Check it out. I have been eating zero carb diet for 4 years (carnivore) and I have never been in better health.
Yes, see my first comment. Zero carb isn't ideal either, ketosis is a survival mechanism, not an optimal state to keep your body in all the time.
your opinion is meaningless to me....it's not based on anything.

Bullshit. SUGAR IS THE DEVIL.

Yeah, we could all do with a little less of a sweet tooth. Too bad we inherited it. Had we not, we would not exist.
I loved the Gen1 as well. The parts that didn’t dissolve were like little flavor bombs. Delicious! Not too sweet..
Complex carbohydrates break down to simple carbohydrates via the digestive process....a simple carbohydrate, as the name implies, consists of three elements....carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Yep... and GABA gives some (like me) unpleasant side effects.
IMO, marijuana is the primo sleep aid... used judiciously. I add some magnesium glycinate before bed...
I really like listening to Clif... but he has many flaws... still waiting for $600 silver... "unobtainium"... right?
And a lot of his followers are getting creamed by the Bitcoin collapse...

For the food component of sleep, there appear to be five important entities: magnesium, GABA, tryptophan, serotonin, melatonin. There are feedbacks and synergies among these entities. Foods high in magnesium: (https://www.myfooddata.com/articles/foods-high-in-magnesium.php); foods high in GABA, or that increase GABA: (https://brainmd.com/blog/how-to-naturally-increase-gaba-for-better-sleep/#:~:text=GABA%2Drich%20foods%20include%20cruciferous,which%20all%20naturally%20contain%20GABA.); foods high in tryptophan, or that increase tryptophan: (https://www.myfooddata.com/articles/high-tryptophan-foods.php); foods high in, or that increase serotonin: (https://purerecoveryca.com/foods-to-boost-serotonin-mental-health-mood/); foods high in, or that increase melatonin: (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5409706/#!po=2.61194;

Makes grocery shopping very easy and quick.
And yes...never, never eat sugars.
yes, only animal products
Milk too?
I don't drink milk. About 80% of humans do not do well with milk.
Especially if it's pasteurized milk. Raw grass-fed milk has many benefits.
Yes. That kept me from buying it.
Been taking it about two months now. Very effective. I mix it with almond milk.
Good to know it works with almond milk--thanks for that.

I didn't realize it's rebuilding potential. You could market this to females as 'BEAUTY SLEEP ELIXER.' 🌸🌸🌸
Bought it. Use it. Love it.
