It can prove to be very interesting way to go and many people who live it work remotely (met more than a few engineers, draftsman, oil workers, artists, musicians & families doing it); make and sell crafts or just travel and enjoy if they don't need extra income. RV parks aplenty in most states, BLM land, a friend or relative's driveway, field. Hell, even Walmart caters to rv's. A few exceptions for municipalities that pass ordinances, usually because local rv parks don't want to lose their business. Get around that by being a customer (buy a pack of gum or anything else, keep receipt in case LE actually tries to run you off).
Even found a small casino with 10 full service lots that let you stay free for up to 10 days if sign up for their reward card when I was working oilfield security in OK (actually stayed over a month before mgmt got on security about keeping better tabs on it when the busy season was approaching).
Lots of websites and blogs about rv and van dwelling lifestyle- even "employment agencies" to assist with finding work (Workamper.com being one of the most well known).
If my two older dogs didn't hate it when their house moves and stress about it, I'd go back to it in a minute. They are same about the car too-most dogs actually don't like riding in cars- that panting that looks like they are smiling and having fun is more often than not anxiety, fear, or pain. They will hang out in it, and hop in and out all day- but once it starts moving, they freak, especially the husky- total panic. But they hate being left home almost as much (absence of the "pack leader" is a stressor for them, too) so they always hop right in if invited. But I digress...
Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone who is interested in a change. Also, wear rubber gloves when painting as colour on the fingers is a dead giveaway.
Time for detachment, observation and helping when asked. I’ve been waiting for this stage for months. I thought it would be Oct 21. As Mary points out, some communities have laws against letterbox drops, but in any case, most notes in boxes end up in the bin unread. Posters on building walls in alleys work very well, but painting directly on the wall is harder to remove, but it needs to be done in the early hours of the morning. Pretend to be looking for a pet, if the police turn up and pre-arrange for a friend to phone to say the pet has been found, when you speed-dial them. Carry a lead to look convincing. Also, wear rubber gloves when painting as colour on the fingers is a dead giveaway.

Chalk works well, when you stop somewhere, write the question on the asphalt, or on park sidewalk, or just about anywhere.
Time for detachment, observation and helping when asked. I’ve been waiting for this stage for months. I thought it would be Oct 21. So will be glad when we get to the stepped change and we can become useful. I may be wishing for those 15 months back when I was waiting with little to do but try to make sense of what was happening in the world and why it was taking so long.
