Line 7 in the W4 form should be marked "Exempt". That form expires after 1 year, you can redo that form. The tax booklet, 1st few pages states taxes are voluntary. This from another post, would be the first year for me to do this. I do not make much though, under 25g usually. Knowing they already blew my retirement does make me a bit...remorseful about ever having given them any. I am within 3 years of retirement, or rather was.
The IRS was looking for thousands of new agents. They only had a few hundred applications for the jobs. If I decide not to file this year it's gonna take them a long time to catch up with a retiree.
I think you still have to figure out and pay your tax even with filing an extension, in the US. That is my experience with extensions, they don't seem worth it to me. Pls explain if you know otherwise. Maybe I am too compliant!

And, moving forward, the remnants must be dealt with swiftly and in a very public manner. We must not be allowed to forget and anyone trying to "move past" this horror show must be stopped and dealt with equally swiftly and harshly as they are subversives!

File a 6 month extension. Been doing this for years.

Since I'm not a CPA, I cannot answer this publicly. I suggest that you get a good tax person to explain the process.
