It’s interesting that you mention a “widowmaker” . Yes, there are actually two where I was working.

One is quite large and is suspended by a thick vine. It does concern me, as it’s hard to predict what direction this half a tree may go once free from the vine.

I was working on those smaller tasks that I’m more confident about. It might be a maple tree though I’m not entirely sure. But just like your situation, a storm had broken this large tree.

I hope that you will be very careful when dealing with your widowmaker. Because of your message I will be sure to do the same. Looking back, it would’ve been easy for me to rush into tackling this.

It definitely needs to be approached cautiously. I wish you all the best and a safe experience in dealing with your tree issues. Thank you for your message and for bringing my attention me to this danger.
