Jeeze... you probably could have passed by running your tank way down, then adding a gallon of pure ethanol... run it for a little before testing... then fill up with gas soon... it's an old trick, but often works.

Glad I live in the wild west where people are packing and don't know what an inspection sticker is. The only smog is from the weed "dispensaries." You can tell the alcoholic drivers from the weed drivers because the alcoholics are speeding and the pot smokers are going 20 miles an hour with the smog in the car. When you pull them over you can smell the Doritos. Probably the fastest way to get thrown out of office here is to back anything that's got a fee. Code of the West.

I hate to say this, but if they told you a charcoal smog filter was in your gas tank and fell apart... that is total bullcrap... a stone LIE.

You maybe should see if you can get a lawyer pal to write a threatening letter, if you have such a pal. I don't... as I find 99% of lawyers are slime.

Or try to trick the "mechanic" into writing out something that details their assertion about the "In-tank charcoal smog filter"... so you can "write off the repair on your taxes"... if they are dumb enough to do that... THEN take it to a lawyer as part of the free-consultation... You just might get your $$$ back.

I understand... but still... even getting a shyster/lawyer to write just one letter might get your $$$ back cheaply.

If not... then drop it and write a few killer reviews online, like on Yelp. Maybe plan some dirty tricks on their building, if you are in any way a revenge type gal!
